Typing up our mid-season recap in December, we were anxious about how the second half of the year would unfold. Could we keep up the momentum? Yes, yes we could. With the help of our great Fox River Ad Club leaders and members, here’s a look at how we did it.
The ADDYs are always a highlight of the year, and this year did not disappoint! The speakeasy theme lent itself to some great costumes and everyone had a roaring good time celebrating the creative talent in the room that night.
Student Portfolio Review
Our Student Portfolio Review gave us glimpse into the future of our creative community, and let’s just say that we’re very excited by the possibilities! From the student work, to presentations from Big Shoes Network and a panel of local creative heroes, there was a lot of talent and conviction in the room that is sure to result in great things for the Fox Valley and beyond.
Our two luncheon speakers, Antionette Carroll and Stefan G. Bucher, nailed it with their presentations. Antionette challenged us to design for more than ourselves, to use our creativity to cultivate positive change in our communities. That’s a pretty tall order, but as Antionette assured us, designers and design thinkers have the ability to change the world.
Stefan echoed those sentiments in his design talk, encouraging us to avoid projects that we don’t believe in and to work on fun and interesting projects we enjoy. His personal journey yielded some valuable advice for all of us: keep learning.
