Amy Soquet (a.k.a. Amy SoCool) is no stranger to Fox River Ad Club. She joined twenty-one years ago as a student and has been an active member for the last 15. If you’ve been to an Ad Club event recently, you’ve likely seen her there.
We recently took the opportunity to ask Amy why she initially joined Ad Club and what keeps her active and engaged today. It’s a pretty neat story that we hope will inspire others to join.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hello. My name is Amy Soquet…aka….Amy SoCool. My day job: Account Manager at Image Studios. I also serve on the board as the 2nd Lieutenant Governor for AAF District 8. As 2nd Lt. Governor, I will serve a six-year term and my duties include hosting the District 8 American Advertising Awards judging and show. District 8 consists of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
I joined Ad Club twenty-one years ago! I wrote an essay and won a scholarship for Student Membership in 1996 while attending NWTC for Marketing-Communications. As in active member in Ad Club over the last 15 years, I have served on ADDY committees and held several board positions such as Communications Chair, Membership Chair, and President. I joined Ad Club because I like surrounding myself with like-minded creatives in our community.
Why you continue your involvement with Ad Club?
I continue my involvement with Ad Club because I enjoy being a part of advertising professionals working to advance the creative industry in our community. What could be better than joining friends and colleagues and networking with some of the best in our industry?
What do you find most beneficial about being a member?
Networking. Education. Fun. The speakers are always engaging and inspiring…Chip Kid, Studio on Fire, Chank Diesel and Sandro Miller, just to name a few. I like staying up to date on current industry trends.
What are you most looking forward to this season at the local and district levels?
The American Advertising (ADDY) Awards – recognizing and awarding creative excellence in our community and cheering on the work that advances to District level! We work hard to meet those tight deadlines all year long. This is the time to show us what you’re made of. I’ve had the opportunity to attend National ADDY Awards, and it’s amazing to see all of the work from agencies big and small across the country.
