Summer Nom Call - Open Board Positions

As we gear up for an exciting season ahead, we want YOU to be part of the incredible journey! 

We’ve got several opportunities up for grabs to join our phenomenal Board of Directors and club committees that will allow you to flex your creativity and marketing prowess.

And no… we are not about squeezing every little bit out of you that we can. We are all volunteers with many other things happening in our lives — we get it!

So, those open board opportunities, what are they?

Communications Chair: 

Master of all things messaging and social media. You'll be the guru behind our monthly emails, social media posts, and advertising with the help of your committee members.

What the Communications Chair does:

  • Email Newsletter Management and Communication (Mailchimp)

    • Ensure Communications Committee is regularly sending email updates to club members and subscribers with new information, events, etc. working with other Chairs to collect needed information. This includes but is not limited to:

      • Event announcements and reminders

      • Monthly newsletter promoting club activities, member spotlights, recent news, etc.

    • Manage lists (members and non-members) by year - work with the Membership Chair to ensure all those who are members are subscribed and added to the proper list. 

  • Social Media Management

    • Craft a plan with the Communications Committee for regular content on our Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, giving special care to our events. And ensure that the plan is executed for regular posting (posts can be scheduled).

      • Assist with live event coverage on Stories

      • Engage and respond to unread comments and messages

    • Create “events” on Facebook (via Eventbrite) and LinkedIn for our club events.

    • Check that header images are kept up-to-date and relevant, replacing as needed. (Canva templates available)

    • Graphic design for events, spotlights, newsletter, etc. (Canva templates available)

  • Website Blog Management

    • Craft a plan with the Communications Committee for regular content on our blog (at least once per month)

      • This can include seeking guest bloggers from our club members or offering opportunities to our keynote speakers to write content

      • Other ideas include: sharing recaps of our events with the assistance of the Programming Chair, relevant industry news and opportunities locally and nationally, or updates from other Board members.

  • Secure desirable publicity and otherwise promote all functions of the Club in the community

  • Organize and oversee the Communications Committee

    • Plan regular Committee meetings or communication to ensure all committee members are able to complete email, social, and website blog marketing communications needs.

  • Attend Club events and. monthly board meetings

Programming Chair: 

The ultimate event planner! You'll rock at researching and booking our monthly keynote speakers and organizing member events like happy hours and social gatherings. Plus, you'll team up with the Communications Chair to spread the word! 

What the Programming Chair does:

  • Plan and organize all monthly Lunch & Learns and social events. This includes:

    • Researching and booking our monthly keynote speakers (September - May; some 2023 planning has already begun)

      • If speaker is from out of town, assist with travel and lodging, as needed

    • Arranging and book event locations and vendors

      • Secure outside catering for locations that do not provide food at their venue for our Lunch & Learn events

    • Setting up Eventbrite events for ticketing of each event (often duplicating and updating past events)

    • Providing event details and assets to the Communication Chair for promoting events

    • Work or find volunteers for registration at all events

  • Opportunity to create a committee to assist with Programming tasks if needed.

  • Attend Club events and monthly board meetings

Vice President: 

As our Vice President, you'll be hanging with our current Board President prepping to take on the role yourself in the following season. You'll also assist other Chairs to get a taste of every aspect of our club. 

What the Programming Chair does:

  • Shadowing the President with their tasks to prepare to take on the role in the future season

    • Assist the President in setting and overseeing the club’s goals for the year

    • Fill in for the President when needed

  • Handling mail sent to our P.O. Box

  • Assist other Chairs to learn all areas of the club

  • Attend Club events and monthly board meetings

  • Participate in monthly (September - May) AAF-District 8 conference calls, especially if the President cannot attend

  • Opportunity to attend AAF National and/or District events
