Paige & Jenna filled the room at The Green Bay Distillery for our second Lunch + Learn of the 2022-23 season!

Given the sensation that Kwik Trip’s social media is, it’s no surprise that their in-house Social Media Supervisor, Page Forde and Paid Media Specialist, Jenna Arts drew out a crowd for our October lunch + learn. And their presentation was equally as great as their social media.

For those not familiar with our lunch + learn series, we bring in a speaker each month to talk on a topic related to or closely impacting our advertising, marketing and design community. View our upcoming keynotes on our events page.

More Than a Gas Station: Engaging your Fanbase

Their keynote and Q&A shared Kwik Trip’s overall organic and paid digital marketing strategy; including their killer social media, and how they’ve engaged true super-fans across Wisconsin and beyond.

Community-First Mindset

While growing brand awareness and driving sales are big parts of any marketing plan, Kwik Trip’s approach drives a community-first mindset because they are more than just a business at the end of the day. They have grown a super fan base who love Kwik Trip, have local pride, and engage in their content because they genuinely want to see what they have to say. And of course, it’s entertaining! Especially with Paige’s satirical humor and the use of pop culture and memes .

Social Listening

Of course, part of that Paige mentioned comes from social listening. Both what people are actually saying about their brand vs what they think they are saying. Kwik Trip Enthusiasts will often post about the brand, take special occasion photos in their stores, and more. Jenna mentioned using user generated content (with permission) or repurposing content also plays into their paid digital strategy.

Social listening also means watching current trends and pop culture references. Paige gave us a peek at how she will take a trending post and add a bit of midwestern and Kwik Trip flare to it to create a new post:

Always Be Testing

This is the last takeaway we’ll share in this blog is to always be testing. Whether that is researching how content is shared, trying out trending concepts and sounds, utilizing influencer marketing, or repurposing content social media is constantly changing, and experimenting to see what works best for your audience is all part of the fun.
